RDP, HPMC, and HEMC are key additives in modern tile adhesives, each playing a critical role in optimizing performance.

Redispersible Polymer Powder (RDP)​ is the primary component for enhancing adhesive strength and flexibility. It forms a polymer film that bonds strongly to both the tile and substrate, improving resistance to shear stress, dynamic loads, and thermal movement. RDP also significantly increases the adhesive’s water resistance and long-term durability.

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) and Hydroxyethyl Methylcellulose (HEMC)​ act as essential water-retention and rheology modifiers. They prevent rapid water loss into porous substrates, ensuring sufficient hydration of cement and proper film formation of the RDP. HPMC/HEMC also provide excellent workability, extended open time, and improved anti-sag properties, which are crucial for large-format tile installations.
