The incorporation of hydrophilic hydroxypropyl and hydrophobic methyl groups gives HPMC a unique molecular structure. This not only provides excellent compatibility comparable to HEC but also, through hydrophobic associations, tackles HEC’s limitation in viscosity retention. This results in significantly higher thickening efficiency, enabling a reduction in thickener dosage and lower production costs.
